Welcome to the Cajun/Creole Dialect Project!

The Cajun/Creole Dialect project began in 2008 in an attempt to survey the Cajun & Creole English dialects in Southern Louisiana. The project is conducted by faculty and students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and coordinated by Dr Claibourne Rice and Wilbur Bennett. The goal of the project is to define and characterize the various dialects throughout Southwest Louisiana while providing an engaging, participatory educational experience for our introductory linguistics students. The project is currently in its fourth phase and is conducting interviews in the Acadiana area of Southern Louisiana.
